MECHANIC JOB POSTING
The Meigs County Highway Department is seeking qualified applicants for an open position of Mechanic. This position performs the inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing of passenger vehicles, trucks, and heavy equipment, including engine tuning, component replacement, and major overhauls across mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Position coordinates with Parts Clerk on necessary parts for repairs and prepares appropriate documentation for fleet maintenance.
Minimum qualifications include: High School education w/ 3,000 hours training in gasoline and diesel mechanics; at least five (5) years of experience as a mechanic; a valid current Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements; and atleast two (2) years of experience in code reading.
Current benefits include: a starting wage of $26.31 per hour, OPERS retirement, paid holidays, paid vacation and sick leave, compensatory time, and health/dental/vision/life insurance. Note: Wage increases will take effect 4/1/2026 to a starting wage of $27.31 per hour.
